The Computer Science department offers both M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Computer Science. Georgetown undergraduates in the B.S. Computer Science program may also apply for the Accelerated M.S. program during their junior year.
M.S. Program
The M.S. in Computer Science, through coursework and thesis options, lets students strengthen their foundational education, prepare for technical careers in industry and government, or provide a pathway for advanced study at the doctoral level. Department faculty work in the areas of algorithms, AI, bioinformatics, computer and network security, database systems, data mining, machine learning, natural language processing, and more. Ph.D. Program
The Ph.D. in Computer Science prepares students for research and teaching careers in academia and for research and technical careers in industry and government. The primary areas of concentration of the program are: computer and network security; cryptography and privacy; information search and retrieval; machine learning, data mining, and natural language processing; networking and distributed systems; and parallel and distributed algorithms.

Accelerated M.S. (B.S./M.S.) Program
The Computer Science accelerated M.S. program allows current Georgetown undergraduates in the B.S. Computer Science program the opportunity to take graduate-level coursework during their senior year and to apply some coursework to both the B.S. and M.S. degrees. This allows students to complete the M.S. degree with only one year of additional study beyond the B.S. degree.
